Glen Campbell - RIP.  Not a huge fan but the man had a prolific career spanning six decades.

Can't say I was a big fan either, but the man could sing, & play with the best. Rest in peace Mr. Campbell, the last few years were tough ones. You've left a very respectable library of work.

Very under-rated singer - beautiful voice.

Love some of his stuff - a lot, I just am not a fan of. Sure wrote a lot of hits though. Sad loss. His influence in music was pretty big too.

Great technical ability.  Extraordinary player.  He'll be influencing guitar players for some time to come, thanks to YouTube.

I also enjoyed the sound and tone he got out of his guitar.  His sound was identifiable.  So were his records.  Most of them sounded like Glen Campbell.  He didn't seem to want to deviate much from that signature sound.

He showed a lot of restraint on his records, as far as his guitar solos, but he could shred.  The guy had serious skill.

I'm a pretty big fan of his earlier, less produced material. His voice was honest, musical and clear, but his producers felt they had to jazz it up with big arrangements. His records were very popular, though, but I felt he didn't need all the heavy ornaments. His voice was very accessible and could carry the message of the music just fine.
His last few years were not happy, but he left some good music behind.

Very sad.

I was watching the news with my mother and father (who is 90 with very bad Alzheimer's) when the new's came on.
Very sad to say the least.

Alzheimer's is a very bad disease. My father doesn't know who he is, who his kids are, who his wife of 40 years is, where he live's, it's a terrible disease.
I stay with my father 3-4 times a week (as many as possible) so my mother can go to the grocery store and do what has to be done.
He can't be left alone at all.

It's an awful awful disease.

RIP: Glen Campbell

Always loved Wichita Lineman, but never listened to him much.  So didn't know what a fabulous guitar player until I watched a recent Netflix show about him.

Rest in peace Mr. Glen Campbell, from what I gathered in that movie you were a beautiful human being.

Wirenut, having gone through the very same thing for my dad and mom I know how hard this is for you and your family.

Stay strong and cope as best as you can. It's hard, it's very hard. You have our sympathies and best thoughts.

Take care,
KP

I was not much of a country fan, but I loved Glen.

This is the saddest song Glen ever sang.

Thanks for posting the links, tipatina; two outstanding examples of the sheer talent Mr. Campbell processed.
