Loud Pop At The End Of Soft Startup On 7B SST2
« on: 9 Mar 2018, 05:17 pm »
It's common knowledge that a quiet pop occurs on shutdown of the 7B's. What I'm experiencing is a loud pop at the end of the soft startup process in one channel. It occurs in my left Channel but not the right. Any thoughts on what this might be and whether or not it is normal?

Thanks!

A small tick is normal when the mute relays open and close, at turn on and turn off, but a loud pop is definitely not normal...

Please try disconnecting the interconnect from the suspect 7B, switch it to the balanced/xlr input, and try power cycling it again.  If the noise persists, I would suggest sending it to us for warranty service.

If the noise is now gone, the preamp may be passing a small amount of offset, resulting in the noise.

Thanks,

Mike
