Battery for M901
« on: 1 Apr 2013, 11:21 pm »
Hi,

I have acquired a used M901.  It came with a JT Battery pack.
I have been using a One.2 with SLA battery ( 2 x 5A, 12 V) with good result.
Can I use the same SLA battery with the M901?  If yes, do I need modification as the power in for the One.2 does is not the same as the power in socket on the M901.
Lastly, which battery would sound better with the M901?

Thanks.

You can use the same battery pack (24v) with the M901 (adapter splits 2->4).  Sound on the M901 is slightly more luscious due to the gorgeous cap in there, better POT, thicker traces, etc.

Thanks.

Not sure what a adaptor split looks like and how easy it is to obtain.  Do you have a photo?

Your sensation has an unusual 4-pin plug in the back.  It's a Kyconn 4-pin DIN.  Wiring that to a 2-pin barrel plug requires a little pig-tail adapter.  That helps because if you screw up polarity among the 4-pins you blow up the amp.  The polarity we chose for Sensation is non-standard; the THREE will have a  more standard polarity.

I am lost here.
Can I use this?

Alternatively, do you have a battery assembly for sale for the M901?

You need that part!  Fitting a battery is easy.  Just buy a 2.1mm x 5.5mm bullet plug cable from Digikey.
