If you're going to go that route why not Flatline Audio.

Congratulation to Gary and Danny.
Sorry no good suggestions for the name of your new company,
and don't think of using Audio 13,
that name is mine.  :nono:

It doesn't have to involve any of our names. Besides our well known names do not mean anything to a younger customer base. Think of the iPod generation. We need to grab their attention.
There's a reason I'm in engineering, not marketing  :duh:

I second the solar charging idea - could appeal to preppers and environmentalists alike and helps promote the battery angle.

The younger generation who would spend $1000 on a piece of equipment, expect a certain (ie high) level of refinement, even if Beats headphones are what got them started.

I need more time to think it over, and I'll make some suggestions. I think the path that Peter J is on is pretty good. There are some other good ideas too that could evolve into something great.

...we will be trying to reach out to a younger crowd that hasn't yet experienced the high end segment of the market. So in a sense we are trying to revive the industry and at the same time it is a revival of designer and engineer Gary Dodd. So I keep thinking about calling it Revive. I am not sure how well that will grab a younger market though.

I still like "Whiplash" ...but what comes to mind when you think of youth? Attitude? Energy?

Then how about...

Bitch Slap - Audio with Attitude

Pit Bull - High Performance Audio

Since its rising from the ashes I'd think something that represents a Phoenix, without saying Phoenix Audio, which I'm sure is all too common.  Maybe the Greek spelling, Phoinix Audio.  Or the Egyptian morning star Bennu, sometimes referred to as a Phoenix, which we know as Osiris, thus Osiris Audio.  Or the Phoenix renews itself, Renu Audio.

Oh yeah, also I'd be very interested in purchasing these components.  I wish you fabulous success.

Direct Current Revival!

I hate to put a damper on this effort but $599 is still a lot of money to most people.  Audiophiles may not think so but for ordinary folks it can be a stretch.  I know guys who might be impressed by the sound but would say "$600 AND I still have to buy a battery?!"  I know , silly non-audiophiles.

I respectfully hope it works out for Gary and Danny.

Here is what I did with my new business name:   I asked all of my employees and friends to post on Facebook and ask for names for the company in a contest and we offered $300 to the winner.  In the end we had over 100 entries and we had three amazing finalists to choose from and we would not have gotten a better name from a large marketing firm that would have cost us $20-50k.  I would not just ask Audiocircle peeps, though,  especially if your target audience is younger and more sophisticated, but I would expand to a larger audience, so that you get a more wide variety and more creativity.  And I would offer a prize as many people will spend a few hours and submit more than one name.  Hope this helps.

Oh and best wishes to you both.

Just my thoughts as I read:

"Revive" isn't bad, but I think it lacks meaning for the consumer.  What does it say about the product?  I do like that it has a personal touch to it.

I like Peter J's ideas of playing off of that word.  "Novo," for instance, could also mean new.  NovoFi?

I also like the idea somebody else threw out there saying that it could/should be up-beat or high energy.

I find "Ampz" with a Z to be condescending.  It sounds like something you'd find at the toy aisle at K-Mart.  Though Revive Ampz does have energy.  I would also agree with corndog71 that this is a slightly more upscale market than Beats users; probably people with a bit more refinement and taste than average and that kind of spelling is probably going to turn off more customers than it would attract.  I'd imagine this is the same demographic that would drive a BMW 1 Series; something aspirational.

Also, I'd be careful with a name like "Off The Grid" because it sounds like it's making promises about enviro-friendliness.  Unless that's something you're going for.

Firebird Audio Systems by Gary Dodd.

The thought of a Phoenix rising from the ashes came from the "revive" theme that Danny suggested. Think of how cool the logo could be too.

Hey! Letitroll, I just looked back through the thread and see that you and I are thinking the same thing. That's cool. I think we're onto something! :thumb:
