Hello!
For my new project I'm looking for a dipole tweeter (crossover 1khz - 2khz range to AE / Lambda woofers). Currently I have several possibilities, but are there more / better options? And which is the best?
B&G Neo3PDR-W ("cheap", dipole 1200hz)
B&G Neo8PDR ("cheap", dipole 600hz, limited at high frequencies)
Eton ER4 (1500hz crossover)
Beyma TPL150 ("expensive", 1000hz crossover, high sensitivity)
Mundorf AMT ("expensive", 2000hz crossover)
ESS / Heil AMT ("expensive", 1700hz crossover)
Aurum Cantus AMT?
What is the best AMT? And are they better than the B&G planars? What is your experience?
Thanks!
Jeroen

The MarkAudio brand make a very nice Aluminium cone tweeter, maybe it work fine as OB ( I do not know about it),
please ask to Mr. Mark Fenlon at support@markaudio.com

Really depends how loud and what kind of dynamics you want from the system......which Lambda TD woofer? The BG neo 3 and 8 are nice (i use them in my surrounds) but lose their composure if run to low or too loud. Use them within their limits and they are a great choice for a budget.
See my NON dipole build here with Beyma TPL-150 and TD12M's:

For my own setup at home I will most likely be going full dipole. Still leaning towards the Beyma again but am waiting on more results from Thomas over at the HTGuide forum with his full dipole using the ESS sold at Partsexpress. BTW, I believe that the Beymas now come with the waveguide faceplate if that makes a difference to you.....
If you decide to go ahead with the Beymas, I got a dealership when making the studio mains, so let me know and I can get you a little better price than some other places.
Also, see StigErik's thread here where he removed the back cover to Run the Beyma dipole:

Nice system Studiotech!!
I just ordered the Dipole 12 from AE. I'm going to use them 50 - 1200hz (human focal range, max 99db at 50hz with 12mm Xmax). I will use a good DSP for filtering, dipole drop compensation and acoustic integration. If the Dipole 12 is as good as I hope, I will maybe order Dipole 10's and make it a 2.5 setup. It all depends on the listening experiences.
Currently I use the Neo8PDR (>600hz) and it is very good, but maybe the top-end can be better..... The Neo3 was not really an improvement, because with DSP it is easy to remove the Neo8PDR 12khz peak and use it till 20khz.
This Beyma TPL150 is very interesting! It looks as the best AMT for the job. Expensive unit so I'm always interested to know if I can save some money!
Where are you getting the crossover frequencies from?
I have experiences with the B&G drivers, the other freq are from documentation.

Hm. Doesn't the response of the Neo3 fall below ~2000 Hz?

If you want to corss higher, I believe that the PHY-HP is a wonderful tweeter.
Otherwise, there is the Heil...

The Heil / ESS also looks promissing, but the Beyma goes lower. The Eton ER4 seems to go low and is cheaper (+/- 300 euro in Europa). Also a good option!
Eton ER4: http://www.eton-gmbh.de/dlstream.php?FileId=67&PHPSESSID=fed0a32a5f58888a748362cdb08120b3
Difficult to see what the best AMT is!!

This can also be a very good option: http://www.hg-audio.com.tw/ribbon-RM8402.htm
Distortion levels are very low (Clio measurement I got from supplier). Crossing at 1500hz should not be a problem.
