Drive Thread Length
« on: 19 Jun 2016, 04:42 pm »
Hey Folks. Been a while.
Decided I'd (finally) make my on drive "belts." I've procured the proper thread in whit e and black. While I know I can measure a broken one, figured it wouldn't hurt to ask what the "official" length may be. Hopefully there is one, to give me a place to start. Understand one must allow for the loop knot.
What the word?
TIA

Hi,

I have extra sets of premade thread belts that came with my Versalex and they measure 20 3/4".

OK. Hope I'm OK assuming it's the same for an orig WTA.
And that's not accounting for the knot, correct?
TIA

Can't say about the original WTA belt length. Mine are premade with knot, so the measurement is with a "doubled" thread.

The belt length is 21-3/8 inches according to the manual.

Great. Thanks!
Seems I should have consulted the manual -- always the LAST place to look though for some reason. ;-)

Can't wait to hear how it goes. I ready to try too-down to my last Pranka belt!

I built a simple jig per the dimensions in the manual. I have tied my own belts ever since I broke the 2nd/last belt that came with my table, and can't imaging doing anything else. It's so simple to do and I never need to worry about belts.
btw I went to a fabric store and sourced 400 yards of the thread Mike Pranka recommended for ~$3.

I made a couple over the weekend using the nail/tack technique. Awkward but so far so good with my first one on the table.
