Can anyone recommend a good technician for refurb of my vintage Dual 1229? Prefer Charleston, SC area, but Columbia, SC and Charlotte, NC ok as well. thanks for your consideration.

Don't know anyone, but you might call Audio Advice in Charlotte. They might know someone who works on turntables.

If you have to ship I recommend Dave Archambault at VinylNirvana.com. He is located in NH. I've bought table from him. He does good work.

Also, I recommend George Merrill at Analog Emporium in Memphis. http://www.gmanalog.com/index.php. George has been a friend for 35+ years and is widely known for AR Turntable upgrades and Merrill Turntables.

Alex Lok is in Four Oaks, NC. He does good restoration work, and he's good with turntables. He works out of his house now.

If you can swing the drive or the shipping, Benny at Amina Audio(Modular Electronics) in Atlanta is absolutely stellar!

He closed his Raleigh shop?
I used to drop in every now and then and chat with him. He's a good guy and loves talking audio.

Apparently so, according to the new website.

I, too, spent many hours chattering with Alex on the phone and in the shop but I've not talked to him in a couple years.
