Thinking of two speakers...
« on: 17 Aug 2010, 06:19 pm »
I definitely want to try single driver speakers with my Virtue Sensation M901, and I think I've narrowed my choices down to these two:

Any one have any thoughts? I don't want to use a subwoofer, my living room is 10' by 19' including the front foyer (really 10' by 12' is the living room part). Thanks for any input...

If you've got a reasonably symmetrical pair of corners in which to place them, the Horns would be a no-brainer.  While they cost more than the Tekton cited, and use a much smaller driver, they play much bigger than they look, and from time to time a pair pops up on the used market.

The larger Fostex ( "7" series) full range drivers don't excel in the small standard BR type enclosures that are "recommended" by the factory, which the Tekton seems to follow, and the 207 in particular could have some issues with HF dispersion.  (note there comments on optional tweeters / supertweeters, which in some cases can double the cost)

For most folks there is certainly not an issue with the extended HF performance of the  FE126E currently used in the Horns.

Of course there is always the DIY option.
