Seems very promising (for those of us coming from the single driver point source and simplicity schools of thought).

Apparently it's not KEF and Linn joining forces, it's Linn pairing its Exaktboxes with KEF, JBL, PMC, B&W, and Kudos.  Interesting technology, a similar strategy is being employed in the new Meadowlark Audio speakers.  These are fairly expensive boxes and combined with having to purchase the speaker as well puts them out of the range of many audiophiles, one wonders how long until trickle down brings this technology to the masses.

KEF LS50 Wireless does all that for $2100/pair but without integrating deeper bass into the mix.

The WhatHifi article clearly states it's KEF R&D engineers using the Linn dsp system in their speakers, sans the internal XOs. It does appear Linn developed their dsp for use outside their own speakers. Of course, as described, it will only work with passive crossovers removed. So indeed the original manufacturers are probably involved.

cheers,

AJ

And Linn make an Exaktbox for subwoofers, it's their cheapest one too.  So low base could be included in the above system, albeit at a higher cost.

So... Why is this special? Basically any MiniDSP can do this for just a few $. Add a couple of amps to the equation and you're there...
