Hey Danny, any experience with / opinions of the Faital 3FE 22?

They are made in Italy and quite reasonably priced. Here's a link to the specs, T&S etc.

Apparently there's a Canadian manufacturer that uses them in what appears to be a folded horn and claims to get bass down to 50Hz.

They might work out okay in a little MTM arrangement since they are a 16 ohm driver.

I can't see running them full range though as the response looks pretty rough. Looks like +/-5db or so in the .pdf file.

They also have a rising response from about 85db in the mid-range to 90db or more from 1khz and up, plus peaks in the top end. This will be even worse in a small cabinet with typical baffle step loss. So they will need quite a compensation circuit to flatten out the response. And lets say we adjust for only 3db of step loss. It is already at 85db to 86db from 150Hz to 500Hz or so. So 3db down from that leaves only 82db.
Then with them being 16 ohm the amplifier power will drop.

And since they are rated only to 20 watts and after correction will be in the 82db range.... I don't think you'll ever get much volume out of them.

And what we the compensation for the step loss was a more typical 5 to 6db? That would drop then into the 80db of sensitivity range.

Not useful for much that way.

All good points, thanks. :D  They do seem pretty flat between 500 Hz and 9K.

That's a 10db scale. So that rise from 500 to 9kHz is about 4db.
