Truly sad news. Have been a fan of his since TD's inception. As noted in the post's article, a creative innovator musically. One of several of the '60s & '70s along with Soft Machine's Mike Ratledge. RIP   :(

I grieve with you all.

Tangerine Dream has been one of my favorite formation of all time.

It the formation that I have the most album from.

Sad news indeed.

Another solemn reminder of our own inevitable demise. Exit and White Eagle were my first TD albums. I knew they had a large catalog but I didn't realize the extent.  :o

Sad news indeed. I have many Tangerine Dream albums. I use to have a collection of their early albums on vinyl, not sure if I still have it, I'll have to check.

I have the concerts Live in Berlin, London and Lisbon which is kind of a montage of his work. Lisbon being the best recording which is about 2 1/2 hours long.

I hope DR. Schulze at the age of 68 and Vangelis @ 72 are doing OK.
These three were the pioneers of electronic music.

So true, you feel a little older with the loss of artists you enjoyed from youth and all through your life.

Be well...

IMO you should add a few others in there! Kraftwerk- Autobaun early 70's, Emerson, Lake, & Palmer- Picture of an Exhibition, they pulled that off live which was quite a feat considering the primitive synth of the day, 71ish. Gary Numan was doing electonic stuff late 70'.

Then there was unknowns starting out like Yanni, David Arkenstone, Neuromium, Jean Michel Jarre, Michael Garrison, Redshift, Ian Boddy, Ron Boots, Kitaro.

Kraftwerk and Tangerine Dream probably had the most influence in establishing electronic style. It was either Kraftwerk-ish or Tangerine Dream-ish.

I was moving all weekend and this is the first time I've read this. Very sad. "Love on a Real Train" from Risky Business was my first exposure to them and the train scene from that movie opened my eyes to that style of music. I stayed until the credits were rolling so I could find out who made that beautiful song! RIP Mr. Froese.

Hey PRELUDE, it's possible to be a jazz fan and a Tangerine Dream fan.  Phaedra is one of my favorite albums when I can squeeze it in between Miles and Coltrane  :thumb:
