Lucky you! I've looked at Bayreuther but truth be told, I cannot sit through Wagner. Way too long. Even the recordings. Music isn't bad, but it's all a marathon for me.

ah, well, to each their own. I love/live Wagner.... Couldn't do life without. Then again, I'm beyond help.

Read the last lines of Brunnhilde. If that isn't love, what is.

Each and every Ring des Nibelungen one is looking forward to this, after 4 days of glorious (and long) Opera, only to be sorry the End of all Endings has arrived. Forcing one to anxiously anticipate the next series of performances, and be able to start all over. Only to be with ones library of memorable performances for the time in between..

This is where Bryston comes to the rescue ...

I know, the music of Richard Wagner. Some call it crazy and an affliction, an addiction even. It's the love of my musical life ;)

before i leave you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQNcTYVlcEg&spfreload=10 Love duet Tristan und Isolde. Siegfried Jerusalem and Waltraud Meier.
her rendition of Isoldes Liebestod in Milan never leaves me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oOGs8TtnwoI&spfreload=10

^ You do know that RW was an anti-semite and an inspiration for Hitler? [Nobody's perfect ]

Anyways, the music is attractive. But I can just get some DVDs and sit in the comfort of my home and watch/listen in isolated bliss.....  :green:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Wagner many nuances to be noted.
This is an ever recurring topic indeed. Don't like the political ideas (understatement). And of course he couldn't be blamed for being an inspiration to one of history's greatest monsters some 70-100 years later.

By all means do by these BD's , those ratchet YT movies don't come close...

There used to be a site called gemm dot com that networked something like 5000 record stores, all searchable, didn't have to enter your CC for each, but they apparently folded. Anybody else remember or use that site?

Yes, I looked for it a few wks ago. Gone. Was a good resource.

Discogs is still my buying source for old records.
