.7s being shipped
« on: 5 Dec 2014, 07:57 pm »
For those of you who were looking for the updated MG12s, the .7s will be available starting next week.  I'm told it's basically a smaller version of the 1.7s for those who don't have the room to accommodate the larger model.

They may be shipping them but there's nothing on their web site to show that the product exists.
That's kind of disappointing as I'm told that there's some sort of new look about them.
Anybody seen a pair of these yet?

Thanks!
Those new mounts look interesting.  The picture makes it look like they're adjustable for tilt.

Do I see two different stand types?

It looks like they were testing out different types.
I wonder what they decided to use for the actual production model?
Getting them off of the ground seems like a good idea.
With two DMWs I'll bet that sounded pretty nice.
You'd still need a real subwoofer to fill in the bottom end, of course.

Hmmm, my humble  opinion is that they lack some simple but innovative solutions.

It's difficult to take your comment seriously, when you wrote 13 words and two of them are misspelled.
I bet they sound fantastic....

Care to elaborate?

Unfortunately, simple innovations are usually not simple.  :)

I don't see any reason why the .7 speakers won't sound fine.  The basic scheme is perfectly fine......as it is with all Magnepan's.

Sorry for my bad english, it is not my language.
Why they don't do more?
I really don't know. There are some things on Magnepans which are bad made or constructed and it seems they don't really care. In so many years they could change some and it is not always about money.
Some of them:
- their aluminium feet need to be welded and this costs money, instead they could have some more filigran and more sturdy( even adjustable) done by....
- binding post material and quality?
- some inforcement of the mdf frame?

Not to mention the strange thing about the i model ...
-
To be honest I love my Magnepans but there is always room for improvement.

Those are not innovations.....they are all engineering changes with questionable price/performance ratio.  (In my opinion.)

That said, Magnepan is not a company known for innovation.  You could argue the last meaningful innovation they had was the MG-II model in the early seventies.  :)  Much of the follow-on work in the decades since has been refinement of the basic concept.

The .7 model simply fills a hole in the line-up between the MMG and 1.7.

Just my two cents.

Cheers,

Dave.

I like the esthetics of the speaker stand on the left side of this picture, and the one on the right side looks like it can be knocked over to easy. Still nothing on there website.

The .7’s now listed on the Manepan web site, with optional base.
