Thanks James. Mike got me an answer. It's definitely possible but it requires a mini plug to bare wire cable like this.

"... this is simply a matter of connecting the 3.5mm connector to the 'Trigger 1' output on the BP17, and the bare wires to the 'IN' terminals on the 4B3. The remote power up switch on the 4B3 will move from 'local' to 'external', and the front panel power switch should be left in the in/on position."
I'll post results once I try it.
