Yes, welcome and have fun.
To help in your adventure, here's some things to consider:
- Am I interested in music only, A/V, or both (and if both one more than the other)?
- Why am I interested in reproduced sound at home?
- How well do I know the actual sound of various instruments?
- What aspects of reproduced sound do I like (deep bass, full bass, tight bass, forward midrange, clear highs, pronounced highs, precise imaging, large soundstage, lots of detail, rich tone, warm sound, absolute accuracy, loud playback)?
- What listening environment will I be using (small/large, well shaped, balanced surface materials, private/shared, acoustically isolated, decent electrical service)?
- What's my budget and time frame to implement?
- How do I intelligent shop for gear (using familiar music, listen in a private room similar to your room, compare speaker vs speaker/etc., don't hurry, take notes, don't listen to more than 3 or 4 pieces per day)?
