Persistent hum in 4BSST
« on: 13 Aug 2017, 12:03 am »
For years I've had a slight hum in my amp, I've tried changing cables and power but to no avail although some cable changes did alleviate it. Last week I spotted some Audioquest Noise-stoppers in my HiFi shop and thought I'd try them. The RCA caps come in a pack of 10 and they were just enough to cover my unused inputs on my BP26 and 4BSST (I use the balanced inputs). Now I have total silence. Nirvana.

^ Wow, I toyed with caps a while back, mainly for aesthetics. Never believed they could work, esp with Bryston gear. Their jacks automatically inactivate (open circuit at input) when no cable is inserted.

Nice setup there.   :thumb:  What TT is that?

Turntable is Michell Gyrodec with Audiomods tonearm and upgraded Michell power supply, feeds through a Pro-Ject Tube Box phono stage.

Thank you for sharing this, i was about to make a home made version of those and did not know you could by them off the shelf :o.
I will try them out, much easier than home made.
