I just discovered this group yesterday, and have been playing the "Heaven" album for much of the day.  What are the other albums I should take a listen to?

Yep, same guy.  Apparently he's been around since the 70's, but I had never run across him.
I certainly like what I heard on the Heaven lp... a very nice rendition of Brubeck's "Duke" tribute to Ellington.

Everybody's actually heard him!

Sax on Billy Joel's Stranger album - notably Just the Way You Are.

Also on Paul Simon's Still Crazy After..... album. Great little finishing solo at the end of Have a Good Time.

Doctor Wu - Steely Dan too.

Way longer than that (as per Allmusic.com):

Quote
Woods' first alto was left to him by an uncle, and he started playing seriously when he was 12. He gigged and studied locally until 1948, when he moved to New York. Woods studied with Lennie Tristano, at the Manhattan School of Music, and at Juilliard, where he majored in clarinet. He worked with Charlie Barnet (1954), Jimmy Raney (1955), George Wallington, the Dizzy Gillespie Orchestra, Buddy Rich (1958-1959), Quincy Jones (1959-1961), and Benny Goodman (for BG's famous 1962 tour of the Soviet Union), but mostly headed his own groups after 1955, including co-leadership of a combo with fellow altoist Gene Quill in the '50s logically known as "Phil & Quill."

I've liked everything I've heard by him. He has an album out with Lew Tabackin, my favorite (active) tenor player, also very much worth checking out if you haven't heard him.

If you have Pandora, Apple Music etc, preview there and buy the releases you like. Hard to go wrong with this guy though; a very tasteful player.

Rite of Swing is a great album, as are his live sessions at (IIRC) the Deer Head Inn.  I heard him live a number of years ago at the Delaware Gap COTA (celebration of the arts) festival.

In case you weren't aware, we lost him in 2015.

Phil recorded from the early 50s.

Some personal favorites:
- Jazz for the Carriage Trade
- Woodlore
- Bird Feathers
- Musique Dubois
- Pairing Off

With alto saxist Gene Quill:
- Phil and Quill with Prestige
- Phil Talks With Quill
- Phil and Quill
You can get all of these Phil and Quill on 2CDs - Altology - Complete Quintet & Sextet Sessions 1956-1957 on Fresh Sound Records
