Wondering what the difference is between a single ended OTL
and a set class A transformer coupled amp?? I am looking for a
tube amp for Senn. hd600's.
Thanks

Not much into tubes myself, but this is helpful.

Bottlehead Crack has a following as an OTL amp.
Torpedo is transformer coupled at close to the same price.
Both available kit or assembled.

Noseyears, thanks for finding that info. It was perfect.
Cooper, I actually looked at the Bottlehead and decided
that I did not want that build project. I am currently looking
at the Woo Audio wa3 and 6 and the little dot mkiv se.
Thanks

What's your budget range?  There are some used Woo's and Bottleheads out there.
The Crack sounds better IMO on the HD600's, but the Woo is more versatile due
to the impedance switch and design so you can drive a wider variety of cans with it.

I own a Woo WA-2 and like it a lot.  With it I have preamp and headphone amp together in one unit - save $ and space.  Although I like the Woo a lot, the unit I like even more is the Eddie Current Zana Deux SE, again a combo pre and headphone amp.  I'm just too cheap, it's $2,200.

The short answer is the circuit is whole different and there is a output transformer.

Don't remember which model that is but I spent significant time in Woo's room last year at CAF and both sound and build quality were great.
Can't seem to find much info on Little Dot.

I love my Little Dot amp...I used it exclusively for my Grado phones. Incredible value.
