Prince Grammy Performance 1985
« on: 23 Apr 2016, 12:50 am »
Hey Guys,

I'm trying to get a hold of a video from the Grammy's. Prince ends the show doing Baby I'm a Star (i think). He ends up running through the audience and the credits roll over top.

Anyone got a video file or link for this?

We looked yesterday for a lot of this, and they're very hard to find.  Most of them have been removed.  Prince liked to control his performances and the ability to view them.

I think Prince was strange, but brilliant and a great guitarist.  We saw him when he came out for his hall of fame ceremony, and he blew me away with his guitar playing.  (I always thought he was too pop for me, but I immediately bought his greatest hits after seeing that.)  And supposedly he could play 20+ instruments.

thanks. I tracked a lot of it down. But that Grammy performance will leave your jaw on the floor.

Might want to hurry if his "estate" takes it down. It was just posted today.

On a side note, there is software "out there" that allows you to download YouTube videos.

I grew up listening to the hardest heavy metal I could find.  All of Prince's materials on the radio were too pop.  I realize now that I was wrong, but that's after 20+ years.

We watched that with our kids (5 and 8) last night.  We saw the Superbowl Halftime show (great), too.  The kids are big Prince fans now.  We also did that with David Bowie, too, and now they like David Bowie.  We did not do this for Merle Haggard.  Maybe Merle would be too much for them.

20+ years ago I was "too manly" to admit to my friends that Prince had a few songs I enjoyed.
More recently, I "discovered" what a great musician he was.
I watched the Superbowl performance just a few minutes ago.

You're welcome.
The lighting is cool.
In downtown St. Louis, there's a casino/hotel called "Lumiere Place" that has a big swoopy LED panel on it.
As of the other day, it's purple (old Google photo that just happens to be purple) for Price:

Well, now somebody here thinks that we should re-name the airport after him.

I think it was the Hall of Fame performance were he did "While My Guitar Gently Weeps " and it was spectacular.
