BCD-1 CD Recognition Question
« on: 17 Sep 2014, 01:00 pm »
Good Morning - I recently attempted to listen (play) to an ArkivMusic copy of a Duetsche Grammaphon CD.  Unfortunately, the BCD-1 did not recognize the CD.  This is the first time I've run across this issue and I'm trying to figure out where the glitch lies with recognition.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Is there copy protection on the record ? I have a few that won't start unless I  close the tray and hit track 2  then return to the 1st track.  The player is so absolutely redbook that it will reject copy protection crap.

It's a suggestion I will definitely try.  And I'm also going to see if it loads on my Desk Top.  If it does, perhaps a firmware issue???  Just guessing.  BCD has be bulletproof and very happy with it to date.

Tried starting CD on track 2.  No Good
Put CD in Apple Desk Top.  It recognized CD and listed all tracks.  Now I am scratching my head.

Hi

Is it more than 32 tracks?

Also rip it to a CDR and it will probably play.

Why would it play as a CD-R?

Hi

Just seems to work - I assume it removes any copy protection???

Well before reading all your responses on line, I transferred the CD to iTunes (lossless) and then burned a CD-R. Popped it into the BCD, it recognized the CD, and it played.
Mr. Tanner hit the nail on the head.  Why?  It just does.  A mystery of life!  Then I put the original ArkivMusic CD back in the BCD........and it recognized it!!!  But when I hit Play, nothing.  Selected  track 2, it sort of played, but almost sounded like it was skipping?!?

Long story short I'm listening to my burned copy.  It works.  Thanks to all for you sage advise.
