Isolation for cable box
« on: 8 Mar 2016, 02:40 pm »
My cable box vibrates like crazy.  I'm not concerned about improving the sound quality when watching TV, but would like a cheap way of isolating that box from the rest of the rack to minimize any sonic damage it's causing when listening to music.  What's the best approach for this?  Will extra thick Grungebuster dots suffice?

Thanks,
John

Hi, John. Cable boxes come in all shapes and sizes, so there's no one-size-fits-all answer. Extra-Thick grungebuster Dots would surely be beneficial with most cable boxes. If the box is very light, Herbie's Audio Lab Big Baby Booties might be a better option; if full-component size and weight, TenderSoft Tenderfoot isolation feet would be ideal.

Thanks Steve, it's a larger box with DVR, so I'll start out with extra thick Grungebusters to see what happens.
