I’ve been a fan of all things guitar since right about the time Band of Gypsies was released, and I’ve heard and seen a lot of incredible riffs played over all those years, but Hendrix’s playing here is in another league; the perfect combination of deep emotion, heavy distortion, power, volume and speed. It’s like the man was channeling a form of energy from some other universe.
