AV-1 60hz vs 55hz enclosure
« on: 22 Nov 2003, 08:59 pm »
Hi,

Are there any benefits to building the 60hz enclosure over the 55hz other then size if I'm going to use a subwoofer?

i.e. would less bass frequency duties result in better sound for higher frequencys.

Thanks

Personally, I like the sound of the larger box and I like to cross them over to subs in the 50Hz range.

Some however, use these speaker primarily for home theater usage and they like to play the system on the hard side and let the sub play up to 60Hz (sometimes even higher) to increase impact in that area.

While a sub playing twice as loud as the main speakers may be undesirable for music many do like it with movies.

Tuning the A/V-1 slightly higher and using the smaller box helps them to blend better with subs that are played higher.
