Balance line connectors?
« on: 27 Feb 2008, 02:07 pm »
Just a couple of simply questions.

First, what is the preferred method of connecting balanced line cables to components?  Stereo phone plugs, cannon connectors?  Whatever?

Second, are there reasonable adaptor cables available, such as cannon to left and right RCA, stereo phone to left and right RCA, and similar.

Sources?

Thanks,

Cannon (XLR) are what most pro audio gear uses. Yes there are adaptors for those types of things, to go from cannon to phono(I have ones from different manufacturers and some are wired reverse polarity, so you must check that to be sure) , cannon to RCA, phono to RCA, . Companies like Hosa)IIRC) are a good resource for adaptors.

Phono plugs are my personal least favoured termination. There are very often contact problems. The shafts get oxidized and you have to clean them often. RCA's are much better in this regard, but RCA is the least used connector in pro audio.
