Did anyone watch the Gwen Stefani Christmas special last night?  My wife put it on for about 30 minutes and she made our ears bleed.  We both felt that she has the worst voice.  It was painful to watch.

I don't follow her very much but I remember liking her and No Doubt on their album, Tragic Kingdom.  I didn't think her voice was bad.    It must have been the network TV production/your TV audio playback that contributed to that.

Definitely is not my TV audio which runs through an AVR.  If anything, it showed how bad her voice is.  Listening to it on youtube, it sounds a bit better through my laptops speakers. Here is a clip-

Listen to this and see if you hear a difference.  I think this is the "official" video of the song produced by audio people, presumably.  Christmas special was for TV.  She is also 20+ years younger on this video.

She never had a good voice to start off with and age/time just makes it worse.

A lot of singers now days dont get famous because of the quality of there voice....A pretty face, catchy tune and lyrics that pertain to what evers hip at that time combined with the right promotions is what makes one popular in todays society.....before 2000 we had boyz2men today we have Justin Bieber. LMAO

Dont get me wrong though as I like some of Gwens songs but this topic is about why her voice didnt sound so good on that Christmas special.

I loved her voice on the first No Doubt album, but have not kept up.  A bit sexist of me, but I think she has the best legs in Rock.
