Kinda Free stuff (no free preamps though.....)
« on: 22 Apr 2013, 10:42 pm »
Hello!

Spring cleaning and I have some stuff to find a new home for. No pre-amps - Just odds and ends that did not get a new home when I made my office move last year.

I put the word 'kinda' in the subject on purpose - I don't want any $ for this stuff personally but would ask that you donate to a charity instead. The charity I'd suggest is here:

http://www.lostearthadventures.co.uk/about-us/our-charity/

Been working with these fellows to put a solar powered water pump system in that village  to ease the load for the folks there hauling water each day. Might even get it installed late this summer if all goes well. Grass roots guys where the $ ends up going direct to projects and not to overhead. If you have another fav charity instead of this one just let me know what it is - that is just fine too.

I've put suggested amounts by each item - feel free to ask about other amounts if they don't seem to fit. Many of these items are big / heavy and are not practical to ship safely....Sorry about that!

---------------------------------------
Balanced Power Transformer in box.  Heavy duty unit just like this one here:

http://www.htguide.com/forum/showthread.php?11045-Equi-Tech-Q-tranny-based-DIY-balanced-power-project

Only tackle this project if you have experience with high voltage wiring and local codes. If you have to ask about wiring details then this is not a safe project to undertake!

Suggest $250 donation - too heavy to ship....
--------------------------------------

140Hz tractrix Horns for Lowther (or similar) drivers. I guess you could say this was Bent Audio product #1 - made about 12 pairs way way back. Dan at Bottlehead nick-named them the Deep Throat horns in keeping with his naming guidelines. I used these with PM2A drivers then later with REPS drivers and TAD 1601C drivers on the bottom. Fun systems for sure. Although not a safety danger like the balanced power unit it is only a small part of a speaker system so might be quite a project to undertake. These are black and not in perfect shape. Big horns  - about 38" diam.  I will snap some pics to send to interested parties.

Old valve issue has a mention of them. here:

Suggest $250 donation - too big to ship.....
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
TC sounds TC2+ 12" woofers. New in boxes /  2 units

Used this model driver in my giant dipole project a few years back and these were leftovers.... 2 units in boxes never opened.

Possible shipping but not cheap to ship from Canada to the USA.

Suggest $150 donation for the pair + ship cost if any.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Small parts express speaker cabinets

Gloss Black and new. Like these:

http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?partnumber=302-700

Suggest $100 + ship cost if any.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
DCS Delius Dac - flakey....

Well it's not a love story.... Sent for repair a couple years back and returned but started acting up again.

Tired of looking at it but if you have lots of patience or deep pockets to send it for another repair then maybe it's for you.

Suggest $250 donation - Afraid to ship it since it might arrive less functional than it is now...
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Thansk!

Hello!

Few folks asked about the DCS DAC. Here is the scoop. It does work but sometimes takes several times to get it rolling when powering up and also sometimes will loose a channel after being left on for a time, etc.

I have some pics of the horns I will try and post here tomorrow.

Thansk!
