just a thought, I would like to have better music at work but space is very limited on my desk. how could you implement the planar mids as full range (limited) computer speakers?

Take a look at Monsoon computer speakers.  No longer made, but still on eBay.

They use an earlier version of the planar driver.

I own several sets of Monsoon's different PC speakers, and all are very good.  Not a VMPS, but pretty good, just the same.

There are 3 main models to look for: the MM-1000s, MM-700s, & MM-702s, in chronological order.  There was also a 4 panel surround set, the MM-2000s.  Monsoon had other smaller or later 2.1 systems, but none sounded as good as these earlier versions.

Eminent Technology had a higher end set of 2.1 PC speakers as well.  They were LFT-11s.  These had mid/treble panels, mated to a 'sub' with dual 6.5" woofers.  Much rarer than the Monsoons, and much more expensive, at about $650 retail, IIRC.  No longer produced by Eminent.
