One thing I really enjoy is the process of designing a speaker and having the input of the audiophiles here. The forum is a good place to float ideas and incorporate customer feedback into new products. Some of our current projects:

"Tre Supremo" - a new 3-way with a RAAL ribbon tweeter, Scan-Speak Illuminator midrange, and Seas 10" woofer

"Tre Supremo CC" - a matching center channel for the Tre 3-way as well as the Cima monitor. Dual Scan-Speak 7" Illuminator woofers, Scan-Speak Illuminator mid, and RAAL ribbon tweeter.

"Magnifico-Be"  CC - a customized version of the Magnifico center channel with a Scan-Speak beryllium tweeter.

"Tempesta Xtreme" - a floorstanding version of the Tempesta with dual 7" Illuminator woofers and Accuton ceramic mid / RAAL ribbon tweeter

"RC3X" - a new 7" 3-way following the lineage of the RC3R and Tanzanite designs

"Verita-P" - a custom version of the Verita with the paper cone 7" Scan Illuminator woofer

New generation line arrays - we're working with Marshall Kay and Don Keele of Audio Artistry on some really cool projects. The first pair is in process at our cabinetmaker and scheduled for delivery and on-site calibration in Houston,Tx later this summer.

Wow, a lot of drool-worthy designs. To start with, what differences does the new RC3X bring to the sound with the new woofer?

Thanks, John

The new woofer combines the best qualities of the Seas (detail) and Scan-Speak (dynamics) woofers plus has greater excursion capability and deeper bass extension. No longer is there a tradeoff and making the switch was a no-brainer.  :)

Geeez.  I love my MTMs and here I am about to ask a question about a new design. So many speakers, so little time. :green:

So how low will the Tempesta Xtreme' go by adding another 7" woofer to the Tempesta?  Do you consider it a full range speaker?

Sounds like the new generation line arrays will be a dipole design.  I owned a pair of Audio Artistry Dvoraks, which were my second favorite speaker of all time, the first being my current speaker, the Excelarrarys. The idea of a line array dipole design is intriguing.

No difference in bass extension but of course greater output and moves more air (two 7's equal a 10" woofer in surface area). It is a fill-range speaker; in fact, only -10db @26hz (no room gain included).

Actually it will be a monopole array. This type of design yields some of the benefits of a dipole without the drawbacks.

Haven't most of your previous line-arrays been monopole designs? So what is it about this design, that makes it different?

It's a curved array and the output is tapered in segments along the line. This gives more control of the wavefront and everything is optimized with DSP.

Tre Supremo looks like from the drivers you mention to be a pretty awesome sounding speaker, all those three ways look interesting. I'd love to have a 3 way with these drivers- Raal, Accuton (sp), 10" or 12" woofer of your choice, man oh man that might just run my beloved JBL's down the road....hehe..Rick your stuff looks very nice I've been checking out the various speakers and I already have like 2 or 3 I'm getting when I win the lottery. Good stuff for sure!!!! :thumb: Tempesta Extreme is my dream speaker right now I think.....

Yeah, Tre Supremo or Tempesta Xtreme looks good to me. If I can use my DEQX on them.

Rick, what kind a woofer are you talking about on the RC3X?

7" aluminum cone woofer (same driver as in the MA-1 but with a 4-ohm impedance). I considered the Exodus Anarchy woofer but this driver has greater bass extension and a more linear motor.
