After reading about the superior sound quality of asio for a while i finally installed it and winamp. I usually use media monkey but could ot get asio running on that player. Anyway, the sound is crackly and a bit muffled. Obviously the sound does not come close to standard media monkey or even itunes play back.

Any thoughts, suggestions on changes, settings etc....much obliged

I never tried ASIO with winamp.  I thought you couldn't since I assumed winamp goes through the windows k-mixer.  I only used ASIO with Foobar and this combination had no crackles.
