SP 1.7 display backlight

Sorry for this question, but I haven't found anything: it's possible to switch off/on the front display backlight?
It's too bright during movies watching, the best is if it lights only for seconds after a remote or panel input!
There is a solution?? An hidden code perhaps?

Many thanks to everybody.

I thought the LCD display was small enough not to intrude in the dark.

Hmmm...How to dimm it?

James Tanner and his group should be able to answer your question accurately.

that is why I have my SP 1.7 and the rest of the gear in the back of the room.  I do have some power amps in the front which I cover the lights on with this:

and then this

All right, but if covering leds could be a right thing, a different thing is covering a display with tape. Sometimes i have to use it, and using tape is not an easy way to do. One of my friends suggest to me to use a black sheet of paper, but i ask if there is a more professional way to do it.

Thanks again

In any case I can't move stuff from his place and i use a CRT projector in a completely dark room, so in effect any, even small, light is a little annoying...

I was in an audio shop in NYC and I saw a Bryston SP1.7 that has a display Auto Off.

I also noticed the LCD display which is finer in pitch.

What amazed me was James did not update us with the changes.

Hmmm...

Now, if I remember well, also in Milan (Top Audio & Video fair) I saw a Black SP 1.7 with  a display "off", but leds "on". In the fair confusion I forget to ask!

Now only Mr. Tanner knows the solution
