I've read in a couple of places that you can achieve gains in sound quality running a mac mini's OS from an SD card.

Has anyone tried this and is there a benefit? Sonic? Performance?
Which SD cards (sd, sdhc, sdxc), brands and how many gb (32? 64?) are best suited for this task?

I'm running a mac mini (mid 2011), 8 gb ram, intel i5, Audirvana.
THANK YOU for any feedback.

I've been doing that with an I7 Mac Mini (2012) for over a year now.  It has my OS (Mavericks) and music playing programs on it (Audirvana, etc.) and my music files are on an outboard thunderbolt connected SSD.  The internal HD has been dismounted via disk utility.  If the internal HD spins much, I'd be surprised, the idea being, IIRC, that internal hard drives' "noise" can affect the quality of music playback  I'm at work right now, so make & size of the SD will have to wait until I get home, but it's worked without problem well for me.  Cordially,
