USB cable
« on: 16 Apr 2015, 05:00 pm »
Is there a USB cable included or should I grab one?

What are the connector end sizes/types?

What do people recommend for USB cables.

I know I don't have to spend a lot, just curious about some cool looking ones.

Will pexon cables be suitable?

Thanks!

It may be more information than you want, however you might find this thread interesting:

I've tested the LIO dac with this:

http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=103&cp_id=10303&cs_id=1030301&p_id=5438&seq=1&format=2

It has been 100% reliable, sounds great - you can't go wrong for $1.34 + shipping.

If you are going to pay much more than that, try to get a return policy and you decide if the more expensive cable is
worth the cost to you.

NOTE: I am not saying that "there is no difference with USB cables" - I'm just pointing out that the cable linked
to above works very well with the LIO dac.

AND - whatever cable you try, make sure it is at least USB 2.0 rated.

For a $1.34 retail you might consider including one with a DAC purchase.  :P

The good news is that in quantities of 100, they're only $1.11.

Just for fun I covered that same cable with Techflex Flexo F6 split-loom and heatshrink, and an audiophile acquaintance said the music came from a blacker background and had a much wider soundstage than his AudioQuest Carbon.  ;)

I'm well  aware that most users don't believe that cables make noticeable difference but for those do or trust only their own ears I would recommend to contact The Cable Co and get a home trial of several cables and find out for yourself the way I did a good while ago to find out that from 5 cables I have tried that Audioquest Carbon works best for me.  I don't work for the Cable Co so this is not advertisement but just my personal opinion

I went with a custom cable from pexton, as well as the monoprice cable, just to see if there is a difference.

The pexton process wasn't the best to see all the options, so I'll report back once I get it, and had a chance to A/B the two.

I *THINK* it's going to look something like this.

They make some really pretty cables.. audio cables, too!

Hi olegausany,

Welcome to the VR forum!

I agree - and until you try and listen for yourself, you will not know.   :)
