Accuracy of Human Hearing
« on: 7 Feb 2013, 12:46 am »
Researchers have found that human hearing perception of BOTH frequency and timing exceed the limits originally bounded by mathematical models. This could go a long way to understanding the differences in our perception of analogue and digital media. It could also explain the audible differences between digital compression algorithms as they have always focused on preserving as much of the spectral content as possible, NOT the temporal.

Indeed it is. Quite amusing comments also. As one of those musicians 'blessed' with a set of very accurate and discerning ears, I can feel for those that state it is not always a pleasure to be able to discriminate perfectly on pitch and timing.....

Cheers,
Marius

The "Casablanca" example is an eye opener.
