Square motor belt size trial

This is just a for what its worth.

For some time I've been purchasing the FRZ 35.1" dia. 1/8" wi. 3/128 thick belt designated by Turntable Basics for the Well Tempered Record Player which I've felt was too narrow. Light dusting of a spinning LP would easily slow down the platter as the belt slipped. I seem to remember originally the belt was wider than 1/8",

At 1/4"wi. their FRM 35.1 was to wide for the Well Tempered square motors pulley. The FM 34" is clearly a shorter belt but there is plenty of room to slide the motor closer to the plater to accommodate the belt. The 3/16" width fits perfectly on the pulley and its slightly thicker 1/32" really has a more robust grip on the plater.

An FM 35.1 would be perfect but the FM 34 works very well.

My first sonic impression was that of more pace but I think thats more to do with my impression of its physical robustness than any actual sonic differences.
