I love all her albums - though she does too many slow songs. If she would do more of her upbeat songs, I think she'd sell much more.

Sorry, I heard a pre-release single and felt uninspired.  I do find I prefer Gardot over Adele.

Wow, I'd never heard of Melody Gardot!   A quick trip to youtube convinced me to head on over to Amazon to pick up a couple of her CDs.   FWIW I haven't heard Adele's new album. She has a terrific voice, I must say.  But I haven't heard of a lot of her stuff.

Adele definitely has more of a vocal range and Melody certainly can't keep up with her in that regard but I find MG's voice far more sultry and sexy plus she plays guitar and piano and she chooses her band members who are fantastic. She's far less of a "production" than Adele.

For an upbeat take on "Hello", try Jimmy Fallon's show when Adele appeared. The Roots band, Jimmy and Adele went to the music room and used children's instruments to record "Hello", no vocal enhancements like the reverb used on Adele when she appeared on Saturday Night Live. The simple accompaniments led to a faster pace that doesn't sound so sad. Adele almost breaks into laughter, nothing like the somber, slow version on SNL, the piano on SNL was terrific. Adele's second song on SNL hasn't kept me interested enough to let the whole song play, but "Hello" has me playing these 2 versions daily, mesmerizing.

Adele has one of the best voices in the business.  Give a listen to the concert she gave where it was just her and a guy on a piano and no orchestra.  It was phenomenal.

I do not find her remarkable in any way-except for all of the publicity.  I forced myself to watch part of the show to give a fair listen after all the buzz I heard. I was relieved when I finally allowed myself to switch channels. If I had more hands I would give her more
