Happy Valley

A kidnapping in a small town spirals out of control while tough police Sargent Catherine Cawood (Sarah Lancashire) tracks a paroled rapist not knowing the two are connected.

Very British, sometimes the accents are a little hard to follow but a gritty plot and good characters (some you would love to punch out) move the story quickly through the 6 part mini-series.

Your recommendation came along just at the right time. I was watching Lillyhammer. Started out fairly funny but by the second season not so, pretty predictable. So I gave Happy Valley a try. Your description nails it pretty good. The accents get a little easier as you go along. Thanks

So far, I've only watched the first episode of Happy Valley, but I liked it.  Another one you might check out is Hinterlands.

May I also recommend 1920s gangster series 'Peaky Blinders' with Sam Neill and Cillian Murphy and is f*cking awesome.
