Impedances
« on: 2 Jan 2010, 12:00 am »
Happy New Year Everyone! I hope someone can help me with at least a few of the specs on the Tempest Extreme and Stratos Dual Mono.

Tempest Extreme:
-Input impedance?...
-Ouput impedance?...
-Gain of MC input?...
-Gain of MM input?...

Stratos Dual Mono (120,000uF/ch):
-Input impedance?...
-Input sensitivity?...
-Total gain?...

Thanks!

Can't believe nobody knows what the input/output impedances are for the Tempest and Stratos?!

My mono's had a measured Zin of 18K and a gain of 30dB.  I believe some of the Stratos have a Zin of 10K but mine were 18K @ 1kHz. Sensitivity worked out to ~1.04V for 150W into 8R.

Never owned a Tempest so I have no measured data on that.

Thank you Mike. I was guessing that the Stratos might be around 20k ohm, but 18kHz is still good for most tube preamps.

It's 18K Ohm actually. :) And yes, it's fine with most tube preamps as long as the output impedance of the preamp is under 2K ohm. I used mine with various tube front ends with no problems.
