Well for me all that I picked up was David Bowie: Heathen.  Its enjoyable but not my favorite.  I'll probably buy some more of his stuff.  I think it will take a few more listenings to appreciate his style.  Seems like I have heard this stuff in a video game.  Ambience is abundent.

My most recent addition is Mahler's 6th Symphony on Telarc SACD.
Very well recorded. This is my first Mahler, and so far he is very very tough to take (many changes in mood and theme) but I've been told I need to listen intently a few times before I can gain a better appreciation.
By the way, this SACD set is a real bargain. $20 (plus $5 shipping) for 3 SACD's! The 3rd is mostly monologue from Benjamin Zander on his thoughts of the Mahler 6th.

Mahler is tough in any circumstances, but is even more difficult if one hasn't listened to much classical music previously.  Don't want to discourage you if you are just getting in to classical music, but if so, Mahler may not be the best starting point (not that he isn't great, just complex and very reliant on peoples familiarity w/the classical idiom).

jqp--darn you for reminding me of "Slit Skirts"... I havent' heard that song in 20 some years, and now I'll have to go out and get it.

Norah Jones - Come Away With Me
First off, NOT my kind of music.  Very good recording though.  First heard it at a dealer who was playing it through an all Rega system driving Theil CS1.6's.  Sounds even better on my system.  You'll think she's right in front of you, and since she's quite cute, you'll wish she was.

Queens of the Stone Age - Songs For The Deaf
This is Dave Grohl's (formerly Nirvana, currently Foo Fighters) other band.  This thing is heavy.  Sometimes described as "speed metal", it's a good recording with splintering drum work by Grohl and speedy but flawless guitar work.  Not for the timid.  Makes it quite clear that musicians still use drugs.

Hantra, I didn't know that.  Do you have the date? Thanks for the heads up and  I'll be there for sure if I can.  I saw Hot Tuna there last year and it was one of the best shows of of the year.  Jerry Douglas is real tempting to.

Just check the Cradles web site, Jerry Douglas is Sat. Jan 18 and Jorma and Blue Country is Mon Jan 27.  Tickets are $20 for each show.

Douglas is tempting to me more because of the people he is playing with.  I like JD, and have only seen him a couple times live, but I really like Byron House!

I'll be there for Jorma for sure, but JD is up in the air since Sam Bush is the 25th in High Point!

JD is playing on the same night as The Derek Trucks band at the Lincoln Theater in Raleigh.   I saw Trucks at the Cradle and he is awesome.  Much different then his work with the Allman Brothers.  To many decisions.

I finally picked up the Velvet Undergrounds mono recording of a 1970 show at Max's Kansas City, NYC.  It was a bootleg turned official release from what I understand.  It really puts you in the audience, because that's probably where the mic was. :)

I also picked up the CD of Elvis Costello's last world tour.  I forgot the name already.  It was the one with his newer band, The Imposters.  I've yet to listen, but I attended a show on that tour and it was really good.

Is that James Brown cd part 1 or 2? The one reviewed in What HiFi? was part 1 but has the track listing of part 2, and I cant seem to find a part 1 in any big chain stores in new york city.
Just picked up:
1) Wilco- Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
2) Kruder and Dorfmeister- DJ Kicks
3) Miss Kittin and the Hacker- first album
4)Air- Premier Symptomes
5)The Cowboy Junkies- best of

Bundee1 it is part two.I also read the same review but couldnt track down part1.The covers are slightly different but still by Polydor.Confusing? Its true what they say about the dynamics of this album, putting the song Its a mans world up to near concert levels(it goes for over 19 minutes)will blow you away!!!James Brown in his prime!
So if you have no luck finding part 1 just get part 2 seems to be the same album.
Cheers
