Bands that the Music just FLOWS from .... Rare

listening to the 7 cd set of Phish, 'The Clifford Ball' and this stuff is flat out COOL. 1 six string and a bass, are you kidding me ,,,,wowwwww... no new bands that i know of can come close to doing this ,, why is that ???? and thats sad to rely on the past ..

some songs are really seriously good. The band flows so well and the music is not of this earth.

How many other bands have this ability. ?? I neeeed more .. if there is any..

Some of the Rare Earth was cool too....

JJ Gray.

The dude just oozes music. He arranges all the music, writes the lyrics, plays every instrument (so his band knows what they should play), mixes the music, designs the album artwork, and isn't shy with getting dirty and heavy lifting if it requires is. The owner of Alligator records is in awe of JJ.

He's got about six albums and there's only two or three songs I don't like.
That's pretty rare. I've never seen him use flashy lights and fancy garbage on stage. It's just the music.

There are a lot of groups like Phish. Depending on your specific tastes, you might like something like Umphrey's McGee even better. There's also String Cheese Incident, moe., Railroad Earth, Widespread Panic, Furthur and many many more.

I would look into the work of Robert Pollard, and the various bands he works in the context of, which is more of a torrent than a flow.

Well, there's the Grateful Dead of course.... I too was going to mention RailRoad Earth. You will like Umphrey's McGee if you like a little metal thrown in to your 'jam' music. You will like RRE if you like a little folk and bluegrass thrown in....

But YES, Phish is incredible and they are IMO the best thing going for live improv rock. LivePhish.com has their show catalog. And the past few years, available in hi-rez. But choose carefully. Since their return in 2009, it has taken a few years for them to get completely back where they can be, musically... Or just stick with 95 to 98 or so.

With most of the jam music, it is all about the live recordings, as opposed to their studio albums (But I do recommend the two Phish on HD-Tracks)
