The All New and Different Firefox.

The All New and Different Firefox.
The new 57.0 version of Firefox is scheduled to launch this week. As I understand it, this version is very different than all past versions. Many older add-ons and plug-ins will cease to operate. Anyone have any real knowledge?

I have been using v.57.0 (64 bit) for a while. Yes your old plug-ins will no longer work, you will have to find updated versions.
Some navigation buttons have been relocated but other than that it is the same Firefox we love.
It is still a solid performer and rarely, if ever, crashes no matter what I throw at it.
I highly recommend using Malwarebytes Premium to keep your browsing trouble free and safe, there is a free version too but go for the premium if you can afford it.

Seems the Classic Theme Restorer is avaliable for FF57 w/this app??
This is correct?

I would like a Netscape 4 theme.
Also it would be nice if one could explore themes and other add-ons in a logical way.

If you want to get the release version of Firefox 57 a day early, you can go to this reddit thread and click on the title of the post at the top of the page.  It is the actual release/final version as verified using Help, Firefox Health Report.

Smart idea. When I launch it (64 bit) including in safe mode it takes a ~30 seconds to load four tabs and then just freezes.

I couldn't resist giving this latest 64 bit version of FF a try and have to admit to being very pleasantly surprised! I've tried previous versions and always ended up going back to Chrome for much faster page loading despite its issues with some page content being displayed inconsistently. This latest release of Firefox Quantum v57.0 seems to load pages very quickly and I haven't uncovered any issues yet. Had to spend some time finding updated versions of some add-ons but I don't seem to be sacrificing any speed with FF Quantum which is at least for now my browser of choice!

So I just updated to 57.0.4 and hate the look. And searching for add-ons is just impossible (it's always been a challenge,  but it's now 2018 you would think that they could arrange things in a coherent way.

Please tell me, how do I get back to 56 ?

You cant retro update, maybe full uninstall if you find the 56 on the web, maybe it will self update to 57 too after some time.
It updated to 57.0.4 today here, how is your 57 looks now?
I custom mod looks.

Is there any way to do a real add-ons search?

Not sure what problem you're experiencing... I just go to the Open Menu and select Add-ons, and then enter my search terms in the search bar at the upper right of the screen. Then ensure that the button corresponding to Available Add-ons (rather than My Add-ons) is selected and at the bottom of the initial results you can select the option to see all results for the search terms entered.

If you want / need to install Firefox v56.0.2 you can download it at
https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/56.0.2/

If you don't want it to auto update to v57 (Quantum), change the default update option in
Tools > Options > General > Firefox Updates

from Automatically Install Updates to to either

(a) Check for updates but let you choose to install them
     - or -
(b) Never check for updates

To see the entire add-ons type in the Power Shell as admin:
Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers
They are many, some are need to the W10 proper running.
The deletable are a half dozen.

When I do that, it comes up with over 100 pages sorted in random order.
