Haven't been here in a long while.  Thought I would pop in for quick visit...

I.R.S./Capitol stereo LP.  Long-awaited vinyl release of the Concrete Blonde catalog.  I would have preferred 180g vinyl but I'm not complaining.  This album sounds much better than any previous release.  A must buy if you're a fan of Johnette Napolitano.

Jerome, can you comment on sound quality on this version of Exile?  Great record, badly recorded, or so it seems to me, would love a clean version of it, is this it?

I've been using this to compare a set of new tubes in my preamp.  Well recorded, great songs, and Joni in her prime. Probably played it 6 times in the past 48 hours.  Wife is giving me dirty looks.   :o

My favorite period of hers, possibly because of her band at that time. I found Don Juan's Reckless Daughter, and Shadows & Light (a live recording) to also be very well recorded. Jaco definitely brings some funk to her sound.  :thumb:

I think it compares favorably to my original vintage pressing on Rolling Stones Records.  The 180g is a bit quieter.

Hey KP, Hope your Holidays were bright, and your New Year is off to a great start. Was a tougher than usual last half of '17, and the listening room, aka the wreckroom, has actually been a wreck. To the point I haven't been able to easily access the TT, and haven't had much motivation to (pardon the dangling participle) . But am starting to recoup & regroup so hope to be back more often in the not too distant future. There's also a computer change in the works in that room, which had made posting from there less than easy. Anyway, from what I've heard P-man is doing OK, contemplating a move. CB is hanging in, he's had some issues as well. Haven't touched base with v_l, imagine she's been spending time with the family away from home, but that's just a guess. Don't know about Toni, hopefully all is well there.

I think it's just the normal ebb & flow of activities, priorities that has kept things quiet here for a bit. Good to 'see' you, I noted Lester's post that y'all were together at the Holidays, and doing some spinning. Be well, stay warm, and may your New Year be a prosperous one.  :thumb:

Hi AD,
Good to hear that everyone has survived 2017. To quote the poet, "I don't know a soul who's not been battered." Rough year. Let's hope 2018 is better and that people tumbled in 2017 are able to get shelter from the storms and the assistance they need. Yup, saw Lester (we're kin). I only have a headphone/turntable set-up at my house and he has three listening rooms as well as other assorted amps, tables and speakers that are not currently in line so when I need to stretch my ears I visit and I bring the rocknroll because he's only jazz and classical.
If his wife isn't there we turn it up. And sometimes even when she's there. :thumb:
Speaking of battered, she makes some mean fried chicken! Yes, sir!
Best to all in 2018!
Keep on rockin in the free world.
