Asked this in another thread, but hope this will get noticed as its own topic.

I have a Manley Chinook phono stage and have used 6DJ8 / 6922 / 7DJ8 with good results.

I bought a quad of the 6N1Ps from Ebay.

I know that the Russian tubes run hotter.

How can I tell if the Chinook can handle?  The 7DJ8 runs hotter than a 6922.

See what the manufacturer has to say.
The 7DJ8 is a 7,6V filament, curious how this equip can manage it for the cathode not run cold?

Agree with Fullrangeman.

Just what do you mean by "hotter"?  The Chinook is designed around the 6922/6DJ8 thus the heater circuit supplies 6.3 Volts while the 7DJ8 needs 7.6 Volts.  So technically it's running cooler.

We're saying the same thing, just backwards.

The 7DJ8 runs hotter bc it requires more filament voltage and is OK in the Chinook.  The 6n1p should be the same as well.

I'll drop Manley a note a to verify, although they may not recommend the 7DJ8 for operation either

For safe operation and in case a sudden illness occurs with the Chinook/6N1P you need Manley word.

6N1P draw more current than the 12AX7 family so it run hotter.
