Wow! That was fantastic! The vocalist could use a little coaching from Maynard, but other than that, what a surprise. Thanks for posting.  :thumb:

You're welcome! The drums and guitars were so good! Besides the kids, the credit also goes to (Ohio based) Aaron O Keefe - who is their music teacher.

Here are some of my other favorite covers:

Coldplay's rendition of Billie Jean: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kBNIL_CPcw

The Fugees' version of Killing Me Softly: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jX4qkQmT22g
- which was a cover of Roberta Flack's version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O1eOsMc2Fgg
- which was a cover of Lori Lieberman's original: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTyGLBANuOg

Johnny Cash's version of Hurt: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3aF9AJm0RFc
- which was a cover of Nine Inch Nails' original: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JI7LdCHgLgI

Nancy Sinatra's version of Bang Bang (from Kill Bill): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5Xl0Qry-hA
- which was a cover of Cher's 1966 original: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6IdEfcsjhGE

Manau's superhit rap version of La Tribu De Dana: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4NRqSrPTPv8
(one of those tunes that sticks to your head like superglue)
- and the tune was ripped off without attribution from Alan Stivell's Tri Martolod (based on a Breton folk song): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eT8x1i7wE6g

There's more - but I will have to remember them from memory.

Some more I could remember:

Ray LaMontagne's acoustic version of Crazy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6mEfDSP4g_U
- a cover of the absurdly popular but also absurdly good song by Gnarls Barkley: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MgHioCC3yCo

Jose Gonzales's acoustic version of Teardrops: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3l21_I8rEds
- a cover of Massive Attack's: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7K72X4eo_s

Fiona Apple's version of Across The Universe: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZ5WPXxNzPU
- a cover of The Beatles of course!: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PN9n1bAahg4

Bon Iver's version of Come Talk To Me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DgbSHt0wD9Y
- a cover of Peter Gabriel's version of course: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5N5HSDvaZcI

Joan Baez's cover of the classic folk song, 500 Miles: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_K6z3HiRAs

Rodrigo y Gabriela's spanish guitar instrumental cover of Stairway To Heaven: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vNc5o9TU0t0&feature=youtu.be&t=52s

Bob Culbertson's "chapman stick" cover of While My Guitar Gently Weeps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYKB6Lag-wg

Faith No More's rendition of Midnight Cowboy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9s0-EenKPss
- a cover of John Barry's: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ze41x2CMBmc

Mark Lanegan's Cafe: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-4vudtzv470
- a cover of original by Tim Buckley's effortlessly nuanced and moody original: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3hY26XJbIo

Mark Lanegan's (with backup vocals and guitar by Kurt Cobain) Where Did You Sleep Last Night: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tU6o0FFBrqs
-   made popular by Kurt Cobain's Unplugged version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mcXYz0gtJeM
- a cover of Leadbelly's version of "In The Pines": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PsfcUZBMSSg
- in turn a cover of a classic folk song
(I believe that Mark Lanegan introduced this song to Kurt Cobain although Kurt Cobain's version became hugely popular - so I think my order is correct)

What about the ultimate covers that became the standard version, like:

Santana - Oye Como Va
CSNY - Woodstock

and many more

I just put my headphones and amp to bed.  Now I hear this tune.  I grew up with Deep Purple.  Sleep will be one half hour later.

Well, since this thread was brought back from the dead...

Progressive metal band, Pain of Salvation, do a wonderful version of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah".

Vocalist, Daniel Goldenlow, can really belt it. That note at about 7:44 to about 7:50 is a killer!

Here's another progressive metal band doing a cover version of Michael Jackson's "Beat It", complete with jazz breaks (with killer trumpet solos).

This one is pretty fun.

Every song on Rosanne Cash's "The List".  And for one song, Hendrix's version of "All Along the Watchtower".
