We're still trying to elude the icy grasp of the worst winter on record up here in Ice Station Zebra but even the Polar Vortex couldn't achieve what The Artist Formerly Known As "Slave" and Warner Bros. did: make Hell officially freeze over. After years of bitter acrimony, there is peace in the valley and Prince and his former record label have put aside their differences, hugged it out and settled down to cash in on the Purple One's wonderous back catalogue. Release the Kraken ! Let the Super Deluxe Remastered Anniversary Editions fly ! According to the press releases, Prince will be offering up a new release on his new/old label in the near future, but if the string of albums he has released or given away in British newspapers in recent years is any indication, the real action will be in the re-release of his golden-era recordings. Where some artists have re-packaged and re-released and re-mastered their classic work to the point of hilarity, unless you got a hold of the Japanese SHM-CD re-issues ( which are much-better-sounding ) or checked out what was available in hi-res downloads, the Prince catalogue has yet to have been fully exploited. That ends now. First up, a 30th Anniversary Edition of Purple Rain with more to come.

Start saving up your allowances, kids - this is what it sounds like when cash flies...
