The inside of an UberBUSS.
-
It might be some kind of astronomy image from a space telescope, but at the size and resolution provided there's no telling what it is.

I see it. Shock the monkey.

And these fine pieces of wood will be mounted on the top plate of the next UberBUSS model??
Is it a burl?

It is claro walnut, Mike. My crappy picture doesn't do it justice. It is a much richer brown than shows in the photo. The figure in this billet is really amazing. I call the big piece the angel - as kids we used to lay on our backs and find shapes in clouds. That has hung with me for 60 + years.
Finish on the pair is Tru-Oil.
The two pieces are going on a pair of Ubers for a customer. The big one is a 6 receptacle size.

And I thought I was the only one around here that used Tru-Oil on stereo stuff. I've used it on gun stocks for a very looong time. Easy to work with to get a gloss finish.

I use it on guitars, too. Best oil finish around. Tru-Oil spray is too shiney sometimes. Looks like glass... except for the dust motes that get trapped. :duh:
