A tube by any other name!

I'm sure this is old hat for many individuals on this board.

Can anyone give me a brief background on why 3 names are needed for the same tube?

A 6L6GC is a 7581 and it is also a KT66.

I believe one is domestic naming, another international standard, the third??  Industrial naming?

Is this another way to stick it to the metric system?  Hehe

  • To whom more was given more will be required.
    • Never go to a psychiatrist, adopt a straycat or dog. On the street they live only two years average.

Those are typically the US, Military and European model numbers for a tube.  As stated, they can be different from each mfg.
