A used Rega Brio-R is under $600.  It's got great reviews, sounds pretty good for solid state class A/B (I have one myself), a remote and a very decent phono stage.  That's 50 watts.

If you have efficient speakers such as Omega another good used amp would be the Decware Super Zen (also around $600 used).  Very special, but no frills amp that has a volume control and 2 line level inputs.

If you want really cheap (and brand new) a Yamaha R-S300 Natural Sound Stereo Receiver is a good choice for around $279 and the R-S201 is about $149.

Edit: sorry I didn't read into the Pre-out needed section.

Something cheap that sounds surprisingly good, holds its value, and is ridiculously stable even into difficult loads, is an old NAD 3020. I have a 3020B that I had recapped a couple of years ago. I won't part with it. Great amp to keep around if the big rig amp breaks or for throwing into the mix just for fun now and then.

Onkyo 9050 has a sub-out and a built-in DAC.  Around $300-350 and sounds very good for the money.

Thanks, keep them coming :thumb:

I need pre-out for the subs
If your subs have speaker level connection, you don't need a pre-out, in which case the Temple Audio Bantam Gold would do a great job.  I have these amps in two of my systems and really like them.

My subs don't have speaker level connection, ONLY hi-level. That's why I specific asked for pre-out
Got it. PM me. I may have exactly what you're looking for.

I have an NAD D3020 - 30 wpc, bult-in DAC, analog inputs, headphone out, remote, as well as a a preamp level out (via mini DIN) for a subwoofer.

Full retail is $500 but you can find it open box for less.  I tried it with Omega's and it worked fantastic.  It is probably the biggest bargain in electronics you can get today.

I think this is a great idea.

Vin what speakers do you have the 7s ?
The red win Sig series all have AC and Lithium power battery as a buffer filter to any notice and a great setup  and will last for years. if you have pretty efficient Loudspeakers a great deal.

For those of you that Donot have a pre out for your subwoofer. If you call SVS the subwoofer company
My friend said they have a very good adapter that plugs into a RCA that that lets you plug your RCA line levels cables  into thst for roughly $35. Problem solved just ask to speak with a Technician.

Funny you suggest this one as I've ordered a D3020 :green:

Too bad I'll need adapter for the pre-out and the other analog input. But you can't have it all, can you? :D

The 1/8" to RCA connection is fine.  Depending on how excited you are about cable quality, both Monoprice and PE are a good source.  If you want to get a bit more high end, a lot of the headphone guys have custom cables made.  Audiogon is a good source for these.

roscoe65, or someone else

Please provide a picture of the "mini DIN" I'll need to Connect my subs.  :)

I'll run two subs With RCA cables

Btw, this one has all the connectivities as well, but I'd bought the NAD http://www.cnet.com/products/teac-reference-a-h01-amplifier-series/

I had mispoken - it is a 1/8" (3.5mm) mini-stereo - not mini DIN.  You can buy a 1/8" to RCA cable from someone like Monoprice.
