Very nice looking headphone.  Are they open back, closed back or semi open back?

Today everything is made in China, I think this manufacturer will follow the herd for lower production cost.
The AQ phones page:

Came to mind the Mati Otala distortion experiment.

I'm not much of a HP listener but the Nighthawks are some of the most comfortable over the ear phones that have graced my head. I have compared them to various Grados, B&Ws, LCD2s and even the ones by McIntosh and they stack up well. They are an easy headphone to listen to. They do benefit from a good amp just like a good pair of speakers.

Well, engineering is the scientific application of tradeoffs and compromises.  In the case of the Audience 2+2 speaker, the tradeoff was  giving up bandwidth to eliminate distortions originating with  multi-driver crossovers.  With the Nighthawk I don't know what the compromises were, other than the expected constraints of a headphone on the head.
The NH soudstage is bigger than the HD800?

I almost have my credit card out for these cans.  Someone talk me out of it or into it.  Headphones to me are the God of speakers.

It doesn't look like Amazon will post my question Where are these made?  so for the people here who have them, what is the country of origin?  I ask as if there were a domestic product I would be very interested.  Audioquest's facility looks large enough for them to manufacture them here.

As an AudioQuest dealer, I got to hear them a few months ago, and while I am not a headphone guy, they were the best I had heard (or felt comfort wise).  Might add. that the customers for whom I have picked up a a pair seem to love them.

I will look into where they are manufactured, but I doubt it is domestic.

Thanks.
Sounds a bit like the Chinese tobacco pipes - the exterior looked like briar but the interior was totally different.

Oh, no - the HD800 is quite different, but when you listen to the NH you can feel like you're being drawn into a real event-space, whereas the HD800 is merely huge, and a little dry.
Thanks Dale, its good to now we have a fully harmonical phones as the old Orpheus, which soundstage hasnot big also.
I realize the soundstage size is a consequence from the driver size.

It looks like the Meridian Prime headphone amp is a great match with these Nighthawks...
