Modify a SR3-15 for 12V
« on: 12 Jan 2014, 03:12 pm »
Is it possible to modify a SR3-15 to provide 12V output?

Just trying to work out whether to sell the PSU with my DAC or hang onto it for possible future use.

Thanks, Simon.

Hello Simon,

There is an adjustment potentiometer internally that you can adjust the output range with. It may reach 12v from 15v. If not I can tell you how to modify the range. You will have to de-rate the power supply output current by 20% to avoid overheating due to the larger voltage drop across the voltage regulator.

How do you de-rate the current output?

I believe it means that your supply at 12v will be a 2.4 amp supply, instead of 3 amp.
