I use Audio Intelligent fluids and really like the results.  Call Jim at Osage Audio and ask him what's best for you.  You can't go wrong with his stuff.

I agree. The AI solutions are very good. I also like disc doctor fluid.

Is it this one? http://www.vinylcaresolutions.com/id47.html

Do you like the Enzyme cleaner or the regular cleaner?

I've been happy with Phoenix w/ Enzymes from Sleeve City.  $25/ gallon.  One gallon will last me a couple of years-- not worth making my own.

I use a home made solution made up of purified water (75%) Isopropyl Alcohol (25%) and a few drops of pure teepol detergent as a surface tension reducer.... (wetting agent)

When I need to deep clean on my vintage SOTA RCM, I start with a wash/scrub with my DIY solution, and then follow with AIVS enzymatic cleaner, finishing with a rinse with purified water (every stage sucked off by the RCM) - but this is very time and labour intensive.... I am working on an ultrasonic solution that doesn't cost an arm and a leg...

Here are some other recipes:

This one is a close relative to the original Discwasher fluid (analysed some years back by an industrial chemist vinyl fan)
22% IPA (isopropyl alcohol)
78% Purified water
1% Wetting agent (Teepol, photo-flo, etc...)
2-3 drops Armor-All (original) per litre

The Armor-All has antistatic and lubricating properties (a number of people have experimented with Armor-All and similar automotive vinyl treatments on audio vinyl with exceptional results...)

For ultrasonic cleaners:
97.8% purified water
2% IPA
0.2% Wetting Agent

If you are looking for a treatment to increase record and stylus life (ie decrease friction) as well as anti static properties etc...

The commercial LAST and GruvGlide products are both excellent but these are vinyl treatments rather than "cleaners"... a different topic really!

bye for now

Wow. Boy have I been in the dark. I didn't realize there were so many competitors! I just started using the 3 step AIVS from Osage Audio Products, but before that I was using Nitty Gritty Enzyme followed by their Pure 2 followed by AIVS Ultra Pure water rinse all on a Nitty Gritty RCM.

Make this thread a sticky?

Best,
Anand.

Medical supply websites have a range of enzymatic cleaners / detergents that are very promising... but mostly in large fairly expensive bottles...

I use Sporicidin as prewash on records that show any sign of mildew or jackets with water sign (indicating there could be mildew).
